What might things be like if the use of marijuana were allowed? I won't say legalized, because that implies the right to advertise a product, which I would be strongly against. I would put all drugs that are basically harmful, including marijuana, alcohol and tobacco, into a special category. These drugs are harmful, but trying to prohibit their use causes even worse problems.

Tolerated Vice - a new "semi-legal" product category

Some drugs could be tolerated and allowed to exist (to be bought and sold in small quantities with impunity) but not allowed to advertise or otherwise promote themselves. Everyone agrees they are not good for you. De-glamorize them. They are vice, unnecessary and potentially harmful to individuals and to society. Restrict their signage to black and white print. They deserve to lose some of their free speech rights. Perhaps their only advertisement should be to warn of the dangers.

"The government considers this to be a dangerous addictive drug. You have the right to use this drug responsibly. You have been warned, and if you use these drugs, you don't have a right to sue for the pain and suffering that they may cause you. You don't have a right to screw up. You don't have a right to bring harm to others."
